Today we announce the general availability of Amazon Elastic VMware Service (Amazon EVS), the new AWS services that allows you to operate the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) directly in your Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). With the Amazon EVS, you can use the fully functional VCF environment in just hours using a controlled workflow and at the same time launch the VMware workload on the qualified Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) bare metal instances and trouble -free integration into AWS services like Amazon FSX Pro NetApp ontap.
Many VMware workload organizations want to move to the cloud to benefit from improved scalability, reliability and access to cloud services, but the migration of these workloads often requires considerable changes in applications and infrastructure configurations. Amazon EVS allows customers to continue using their existing professional knowledge and VMware tools without having to reconsider applications or change established procedures to simplify the migration process while providing access to the extent, reliability and wide set of AWS services.
With Amazon EVS, you can run the VMware workload directly in your Amazon VPC. This gives you full control of your AWS infrastructure. You can expand your local networks and migrate workload without changing IP addresses or operating runbooks, reducing complexity and risk.
Key skills and functions
Amazon EVS provides a comprehensive set of skills to streamline your experience with migration and management of VMware. The service allows trouble -free migration of workload without having to replicate or change hypervisors, which means that you can maintain existing investments in infrastructure when switching to AWS. You can effectively provide and configure the EVS environment through an intuitive, controlled workflow on AWS management, which significantly reduces the complexity and migrates your work on AWS.
With Amazon EVS, you can put the fully functional VCF on AWS in a few hours. This process eliminates many manual steps and potential configuration errors that often occur during traditional deployment. In addition, with Amazon EV you can optimize your AWS virtualization magazine. Since the VCF is running inside your VPC, you have a full administrative approach to the environment and related administrative appliances. You also have the ability to integrate third -party solutions, from external storage, such as Amazon FSX for NetApp ontap or Pure Cloud Block Store or backup solutions such as Veeam backup and replication.
The service also gives you the possibility of self -government or cooperation with AWS partners in creating, managing and operation of your environment. This gives you flexibility that matches your approach with your overall goals.
Setting the new VCF environment
Organizations can streamline the setting process by ensuring that they have all the preliminary conditions before creating a new VCF environment. These assumptions include active AWS accounts, configurations of the relevant AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Amazon VPC settings with sufficient CIDR and two Route server end points, each with its own peer. In addition, customers will have to have the VMware Cloud Foundation license keys, ensure the Amazon EC2 capacity reservation specifically for i4I.Metal instances and prepare your planning information about the VLAN sub -information.
In order to help ensure a smooth deployment process, we provided a We start mushroomsWhat you have access from the EVS home page and a comprehensive guide in our documentation. You can avoid the tousle of these preparation steps by a potential delay in settings and ensure successful environmental creation.

Let’s go through the process of setting the new VCF environment using Amazon EVS.

You will need to provide your site, which is assigned by Broadcom together with license keys when purchasing VCF licenses. If you want to ensure a successful initial commitment, you should check that you have sufficient licenses for at least 256 cores. This is reflected in at least four instances of I4I.Metal, each instance providing 64 physical cores.
This licensing requirement will help you maintain optimal performance and ensure that your environment meets the necessary specifications of infrastructure. Confirming these requirements in advance, you can avoid a potential delay in deployment and ensure a smooth setting process.

Once you provide all the required data, you will be asked to enter the host data. These are the basic instances of the Amazon EC2 in which your VCF environment will be deployed.

Once you have filled out the details for each host instance, you will need to configure DNS details for the network and management of the device. For more information on how to create a new VCF environment on Amazon EVS can be found here.

After you have created your VCF environment, you will be able to view all the details of the host and configuration through the AWS console.
Other things to know
Amazon EVS currently supports VCF version 5.2.1 and runs on instances i4i.Metal. The future edition will expand the VCF versions, licensing options and other instance support to provide even greater exhibition for your deployment.
Amazon EVS provides flexible storage options. Your local Amazon EVS instance is powered by VMware VSAN that connects local disks across several ESXI hosts into a single distributed data storage. To a storage scale, you can use an external network file system (NFS) or ISCSI based on storage solutions. For example, Amazon FSX for NetApp ontap is particularly suitable for use as NFS data storage or shared block storage over ISCSI.
In addition, Amazon EVS makes it easier to connect your AWS locations. From the on-premises VSPhere, you can connect to the Amazon EVS using a direct connection or VPN connection that ends in the transit gate. Amazon EVS also controls the basic connection from your VLAN subset to your VM.
The AWS provides comprehensive support for all AWS services deployed by Amazon EVS, processing direct customer support while working with advanced support needs. Customers must maintain business support AWS on accounts operating the service.
Availability and Price
Amazon EVS is now generally available on US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland) and Asia Pacific (Tokyo) AWS regions, and soon more regions come. Prices are based on Amazon EC2 and AWS sources you use, without minimal fees or obligations in advance.
